Holiday treat or year round? It's your choice because this pie is delightfully delicious. The pie crust is almond-based and starch-free. This recipe does use eggs so it is vegetarian. It reminds me of a pie traditional to Kentuckiana (and which I grew up eating in Tennessee because Kentucky is not the only state where chocolate lovers love to combine pecans with chocolate chips).
The sugar substitutes are natural based ones that include allulose, monk fruit extract, erythritol and just a little bit of stevia leaf in the chocolate chips. I am very very picky so there are no artificial, unhealthy sugar substitutes in this recipe.
