Meet Wordsmith Bakery's founder & baker, Heather.  She is a little obsessed with the written word (yes, she has many shelves of books and always has a book at hand ready to read).  Now you know why she picked our bakery's name. 

Our family is a blend of Southern heritage (Heather was born and raised in Tennessee), Midwest heritage (husband Alan was born and raised in Illinois) with Russian and Latvian heritage mixed in via some of our children. Heather started the gluten-free journey back in 2010 and we've been a gluten-free household ever since.  We've experienced first-hand the challenge of finding yummy, safe treats for our family and our heart is for sharing gluten-free, vegan, soy free (and dye-free) food for all via our cottage bakery.   In our home in Southern Indiana, all food is prepared in our dedicated gluten-free kitchen.  Heather is very selective about sourcing the ingredients for each recipe and aims to make sure it tastes delicious (I have 5 amazing taste-testers who eagerly help me). We aim to include as many organic ingredients as we can. We craft everything by hand and bake in small batches.
